The Paradigm Shift - 5/30/10

It's time for alliances to solidify, dis-alliances to reconcile, and new beginnings to occur. If we truly love, we will never disassociate due to differences. When doctrinal or religious differences separate, Love transcends and reconciles. God is Love. Love one another. In spite of it all. Love TRULY and not just out of convenience. Love when it's hard to love. Love when you feel you shouldn't. Therein lies the presence of God.

EXCLUSIVE: TON3X™ Live At The Village Underground NYC (5.24.10) [Music Pick Of The Week]

Someone in the audience caught this performance a few nights ago at The Village Underground in New York City. Apparently, TON3X™ showed up and shut the place down for about 20 minutes or so. He sang Prince's "I Wanna Be Your Lover" followed by this:
Here's his performance of  The Clark Sisters' classic, "You Brought The Sunshine".
Big shouts-out Val for the raw footage!

John Mayer - "Free Fallin'"

Say what you will about his personal life or diarrhea of the mouth, John Mayer is a talented musician and did an absolutely beautiful cover of Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers' classic song "Free Fallin'" (one of my favorite songs of all time) for his live DVD "Where The Light Is". Peep it here.

Quote Of The Moment

"We have men sold to build churches, women sold to support the gospel and babes sold to purchase Bibles for the poor heaten, all for the glory of god and the good of souls. The slave auctioneer's bell and the church-going bell chime in with each other and the bitter cries of the heart broken slave are drowned out in the religious shouts of his pious master. Revivals of religions and revivals in the slave trade go hand in hand."

NEW MUSIC: Christina Aguilera featuring Nicki Minaj "WooHoo"

OK... this second leaked single for "Bionic" is actually kinda thumpin'.
This ode to... well, you'll figure it out - is a perfect track for Nicki to jump on and do her craziness.
Big shouts to them both, and to Polow the Don for his usual weird bangers.

RIP, Lena Horne

Legendary singer Lena Horne died today, Mother's Day, at the age of 92.
She was best known for her signature song, "Stormy Weather" (from the movie of the same name) and for her turn as Glinda The Good Witch in the motion picture version of "The Wiz", where she sang what became her other signature song, "If You Believe In Yourself (Reprise)". Rest In Peace, Ms. Horne.

Here are 2 of her best video performances: "Bein' Green" (from "Sesame Street") and a live performance of "Stormy Weather"/"If You Believe In Yourself"

Britney Spears: "Telephone" (Demo)

Apparently, Lady Gaga actually wrote the song for Britney, whose label turned it down even after it was offered to her as a duet with Gaga.

Here's her demo version. Thoughts?
